- writing a nasty letter to someone or about someone and leaving it where that person will find it
- hitting or beating on someone
- making threatening gestures, like shaking a fist at someone
- unwanted physical contact
- taking possessions away from a person without their permission

talking in a way that makes someone afraid
- threatening to hit or beat someone - making someone afraid that you are going to hit them is just as violent as actually hitting them
- calling someone names, both in public and in private
- making fun of someone / getting a group of people to laugh at someone
- spreading rumours, no matter how funny they may seem
Bullying is...
any unprovoked aggression between people
Cyber Bullies...
Over the internet, bullying is called Cyber Bullying
- sending harrassing emails or text messages
- being abusive in a live chat room
Relationship Bullies...
Bullying can happen between people who are dating
- being physically aggressive towards a boyfriend / girlfriend
- saying mean things to a boyfriend/girlfriend alone or in public
Workplace Bullies...
Workplace bullying can happen when an adult has not learned how to respect his/her peers
- encouraging your group of friends at the office to exclude an individual
- spreading rumours about a co-worker at the water cooler/coffee pot
- teasing a co-worker, especially in front of other co-workers
- putting down a co-worker's efforts in a loud, and unconstructive way
- ruining or sabotaging a co-worker's work
Workplace bullying oftens happens between a manager and his/her employee
- a manager is in a position of power and may use that to belittle work of their employees
- quite often the manager does not realise he/she is being a bully
- large companies usually have a resource where employees can go for help; but smaller companies don't always have this assistance, especially if it is a company with 10 employees or less
- Watch the tv show "The Office" (out for rental) to see plenty of examples of inappropriate behaviour by a boss
- Workplace bullying by a manager is a major cause of employee turnover. Are YOU pushing YOUR employees away? If you are, this is costing you money. Get help.
