BronweN's interview by The Daily Gleaner.  Just look at those pants!

July 27, 2006

An excerpt from BronweN's interview with Steve at ffruk.com:

FFRUK: The subject matter of the album regards you being bullied as a child. Do you still suffer from the trauma of that childhood bullying?

BronweN: I am no longer suffering, but the effects linger. Sometimes when I take on a big project (like this album) I hear the little voices in my head saying youre not good enough, youre not popular enough, youre not pretty enough, people wont like you. All of the crap that I was told by my peers as a kid its still there. But I have finally chosen to do the OPPOSITE of what those bullies tried to make me believe. There have been many times where I was working on some labour of love and I stopped just before the finish line. I wrote a novel once, 350 pages of science fiction. Writing is my second passion you see. But I never did the final edit and I didnt send it out to publishers because I didnt have the self esteem to believe I was good enough. That is why finishing this album is such a huge win for me. It is my way of showing the bullies that I am good enough, that I always was good enough, and hopefully it will be an example for youth who are being bullied today. I want them to use me as their example when someone tries to cut them down and make them feel small I want them to stand back up and say BronweN was good enough and I am too. That is my ultimate!
